Idrissa Gueye says Watford winger Ismaila Sarr “can be the X factor” for Senegal at the World Cup before the decisive clash against England in the round of 16.
Idrissa Gueye has claimed that Ismaila Sarr ‘can be the X factor’ for Senegal at the World Cup.
Senegal will face England on Sunday in the round of 16 of the competition, and Sarr could have an important role in the process.
The Watford winger scored in Senegal’s crucial win over Ecuador as they secured their place in the round of 16, and Gueye has backed Sarr to continue to make an impact.

As reported by Sun, Gueye said: ‘He can be the X-Factor, the kind of player who takes on players and makes a difference. He is playing very well.
‘He was really good for us against Ecuador. If he plays at that level he can be even better, he just has to work hard and keep going, believe in himself.
Gueye is suspended against England but is confident he will return to play in the tournament
You can be a leader. They can’t be scared because we have the midfielders behind to compensate and win the ball back.
You can focus on attacking. We need him to do this and play these types of games.
Everton midfielder Gueye will miss the England game through suspension but is confident he will still have a role to play in the tournament.
Sarr said: ‘The last 16 is not the target. We see beyond that. We have no limits. We have a squad to go far. Playing like this, we can do something very interesting in this competition.’
Senegal captain Kalidou Koulibaly stated that his team is not afraid of any opponent.
Chelsea defender Kalidou Koulibaly is also confident before the clash with England.
He said: ‘We did a good thing, but it’s just the beginning. England or whoever, we will do everything we can to win the game. We are Senegal, we are not afraid of anyone. Many teams don’t want to play against us.
Although Sarr currently plays in the Watford Championship, he is undoubtedly a talented player and has previously shown that he is capable of making an impact in the Premier League.
If Sarr continues to impress at the World Cup, he could intensify speculation about his club’s future ahead of the January transfer window.
